A 44-year-old woman was knocked to the ground after a thief snatched her handbag and fled at Westgate Caravan Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The thief grabbed the bag, which contained £60 and prescribed drugs, but the woman fought back and fell over in the struggle.
She woman suffered injuries to her right arm and face.
The empty handbag was later recovered.
The attack took place at about 2pm and police are hunting for the thief who was described as 6ft tall with broad shoulders. He wore dark trousers and a light coloured top and smelled of aftershave.
