A TYLDESLEY couple are stretching their legs for Chernobyl over the next couple of weeks - walking 100 miles through Scotland and climbing Ben Nevis.
And they are taking their four-year-old son, seven-year-old nephew - and a dog!
The walk is the brainchild of joiner Craig Cohen, 39, and his wife Sharon.
Their intention to raise as much sponsorship as possible to help the Kids from Chernobyl appeal set up in the past few months by Barbara Priestman of Leigh who has invited a group of youngsters to have a holiday in the borough.
They will also be playing host to a seven year old Russian boy during the group's visit in August.
Mark, aged four, nephew Russell, aged seven, and Buster will join Craig and Sharon.
Said Sharon: "We do a lot of walking and we love it, so when we heard about Barbara's appeal in The Journal a few months ago we decided to get involved. We will be walking 10 miles the first day before staying in a wigwam, then covering five miles a day for most of the walk before covering a few 10 mile stretches again at the end, staying each evening in bunk houses on camp sites..
"The 10 mile stretches are only possible with such young children because of the help of friends who will take the rucksacks ahead to the next checking in point. But on the five mile walks we will all be carrying our own - including Buster the dog!"
