ACCRINGTON need one more Lancashire League win to equal last season's haul of five victories with nine games still to go.
Despite the problems of losing professional Nathan Astle and using a host of sub pros before Peter Sleep stepped in, the club are well on course for their best season in four years.
Victory at lowly Rawtenstall on Sunday (July 20) would equal last season's landmark and push them further away from the bottom spot they have occupied at the end of every season since 1994.
The club has already passed last season's points total and chairman Peter Barrett said it was a credit to the players who have shown tremendous character.
He said: "Our aim now is to finish mid-table. When you consider what has happened to us this season and where we have finished in recent years, the players have shown great fighting spirit."
Fixtures Sunday (July 20):Colne v Burnley, Enfield v Church, Lowerhouse v Nelson, Ramsbottom v East Lancs, Rawtenstall v Accrington, Rishton v Haslingden, Todmorden v Bacup.
