YOUNG skaters who have been raising funds for their own rollerblade hockey rink netted third prize in a regional contest.
The Lea Ducks have to play in the streets of the Ashton estate, Preston and have been campaigning for a purpose-built rink on a nearby field. They borrowed head gear to take part in the competition in Blackburn, which featured more than 30 teams.
Proud mum Moira Clayton said: "The Ducks played for their lives." The Ducks raised almost £250 from a sponsored rollerblade round the estate, and will hold a table top sale on Sunday (July 20) at the field on Sheffield Drive, Lea, Preston.
