AMATEUR David Brookes and club professional Michael Hadfield from Fishwick Hall Golf Club will be bidding for glory and a place in the sun in the North West regional final the Lombard Top Club Trophy on August 1 at Hesketh Golf Club.
David Brookes, the 31-year-old Preston civil servant who plays off 11, won through his club qualifying rounds with a net score of 62 and now joins up with club pro Hadfield for the chance to play in the grand final at San Lorenzo, Portugal in October.
A record total of almost 1100 clubs are competing in this, the third annual tournament and more than 100,000 amateur players will have taken part in this year's club qualifying rounds.
The winning pair from each regional final will qualify for a fantastic all-expenses paid trip to the San Lorenzo Championship.
Besides the prestigious title there is £100,000 worth of prizes for amateurs and £53,800 for professionals.
