A NATIONAL Hunt jockey is suing a Whitefield racehorse owner for a total of £28,500.
The jockey, David Bridgewater of Broadway, Worcestershire, claims horse owner Darren Mercer, of Ringley Chase, Whitefield, owes him the money for allegedly pulling out of a contract to employ him as a rider.
A writ has been filed in the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court in London against Mr Mercer who is expected to contest the writ. No date for a hearing has been set. The jockey claims in the writ that Mr Mercer pulled out of an agreement to retain him as his rider, owing £3,500 which should have been paid on January 1, 1997, plus £25,000 in lieu of notice.
