ST HELENS lost to Ormskirk on Saturday afte failing to cash in on a good start.
Gareth Davies enjoyed his best innings of the season with an entertaining 65 which contained 10 fours and a six.
Mark Wells (33) and Adam Friar (23) bolstered the middle order but the innings lost momentum at the end and a possible 200 fizzled out to 167 all out.
David Snellgrove was the best of the Ormskirk bowlers with 4 for 60.
Ormskirk had 154 on the board for the loss of only three wickets with D Snellgrove (45), K Burns (52) and M Taylor (48) surviving some chances which might have altered the result.
St Helens then took four wickets in the space of five overs but Ormskirk passed the total with three overs to spare.
The second team also lost at home to Ormskirk with only Chris Carlisle (51) of the home batsmen showing any form in a team depleted by first team calls.
The third team also lost away at Formby, Karl Moss (4-60) and Ken Jordan (3-24) being the principal wicket takers. Jamie Saunders (33) was the best of the St Helens batsmen who were dismissed for 95.
It was left to the under 15 team to win yet again and remain undefeated in the league.
St Helens scored 109 thanks to a fine innings by Gareth Griffiths (53) supported by P Grady (23 not out) in a stand of 93.
In reply Leigh were bowled out for 57 with G Dawson (3-8) bowling his usual immaculate opening spell and Shaylin Naidoo (3-15) and Paul Booth (1-12) keeping the middle order quiet and Barry Connelly (1-6) and P Travis (1-2) finishing the opposition off. St Helens miss the boat
