VETERAN campaigner Eunice Gray is appealing for local people to use the newly installed zebra crossing at Twist Lane, Leigh.
Eunice, who lives on Twist Lane, fought to have the crossing installed before work started on changing the congested crossroads to a major roundabout to link-up with the new Sainsbury's supermarket nearby.
She said: "I am appealing to local people to make sure they use this crossing to get across the junction. I fought hard to get the crossing installed before work started so there were no excuses for not being able to cross, but I have still seen several people trying to cross the road by weaving between cars.
"This just doesn't make sense and I would like them to use the crossing before someone decides they are not needed after all!"
