A LEIGH pastor is appealing for young people in Leigh to find a group of yobs who stole expensive musical instruments belonging to a group of visiting American musicians.
The visitors - a choir and orchestra all aged between 16 and 20 - had visited Kings Park Christian Centre in Leigh Road after flying to Britain at their own expense to perform for local people around the country.
After the performance, a group of Leigh youngsters joined them and helped them to load their instruments on a coach before it was parked out of sight for the night.
But during the night the coach's emergency window was opened and a trumpet, trombone, electric bass guitar, a box of CDs and T-shirts were stolen.
Pastor David Benson said: "What kind of yobs have we in Leigh that visitors to this country befriend young local people and then find themselves stolen from so that the tour could not continue!
"Someone must know if a young person has suddenly acquired an expensive trumpet, trombone or guitar. Please encourage them to bring them back to Kings Park and no questions will be asked.
"If they will not, then report them to the police, then at least we can inform the young people in America that not all people in Leigh are such selfish thieves."
