BURNLEY council is advertising for a town centre manager to help the main shopping area compete with other towns.
The Challenge Fund for urban regeneration will pay a salary of £24,000 to £30,000 for a 'high-flyer with a proven track record to act as a catalyst to further improve town centre facilities and attract shoppers and new businesses.'
"We have to remember that we are competing with other town centres and out-of-town developments," said Andrew Heyworth, chief of Initiative Burnley, the partnership between the private and public sectors.
"We cannot afford to get left behind in these changing and challenging times."
The new manager should be appointed in time for the run up to Christmas.
