RYELANDS shopkeeper Mal Hussain lost his battle against the council at the High Court in London this week.
His claim for compensation from the council for its alleged failure to take steps to control nuisance, harassment, vandalism and acts of violence against him was dropped.
The decision comes just two days after the Asian shopkeeper was the subject of a documentary called Neighbours from Hell which showed explicit footage of petrol bomb attacks on his shop last November.
Housing chief Ian Barker said: "I am sorry that Mr Hussain brought these proceedings because we have always tried to assist him. It was the council's intention to strenuously defend the proceedings. I am pleased that the court has found at this early stage that there was no proper cause of action against the council."
Mr Barker has pledged to stamp out future anti-social behaviour on Ryelands and other estates.
