GREEN-fingered Ghulam Choudhry was judged to have the most beautiful garden on a Blackburn council estate in a competition which none of the residents knew about!
The contest was the idea of the Blackburn Young Citizens' Association, based on the Wimberley estate.
It was was judged by co-ordinator Jason Walker and David McLoughlin from the Council for Voluntary Service.
They decided not to tell anyone about the competition beforehand so they could catch the gardens in their 'natural' state.
Said Jason: "We did it last year and the gardens are a lot better this year, with a larger variety of plants.
"Some do leave their gardens looking like a jungle but I would say 75 per cent look after them."
Mr Choudhry, of Tenby Close, received a certificate in recognition of his horticultural efforts.
