TEENAGER Rachel Molloy has followed a family tradition in the arts by being accepted at Chetham's School of Music.

Rachel, 13, will leave Our Lady and St John's High School, Blackburn, to take up her studies at the Manchester school.

The talented youngster who has a string of musical examination credits, plays the alto saxophone and piano.

She comes from a talented family - brother Joseph is a resident composer at Carnforth and sister Sophie is completing a dance degree.

At Chetham's she will have the opportunity to join in the Chamber Group's Choir and School Orchestra and play at the Brigadier Hall in Manchester.

Joy Fielding, the Head of Music at Our Lady and St John's School spoke of Rachel's musical talent and her keen perception in all areas of the arts.

"She will be missed, but it is an opportunity for Rachel that she cannot miss" commented Mrs Fielding.
