VIOLENCE erupted for the second night running on the Stoops council estate in Burnley when police in full riot gear were bombarded with stones, bottles and petrol bombs.
At one point a blazing barricade of old mattresses and furniture was formed across Melrose Avenue as 100 police battled with at least 50 missile-throwing youths.
No-one was hurt but 17 people were arrested.
