THE SUN put its hat on for the start of seaside-style frolics being staged to create a holiday-at-home atmosphere for town centre shoppers in Blackburn.
Donkeys drafted in from Blackpool were just one of the attractions at the first of a series of events taking place as part of the' Blackburn by the Sea' five-day extravaganza timed to coincide with the traditional holiday period.
"Holidaymakers" were able to relax in deck chairs to watch a host of street entertainments including circus acts, line dancing and a Punch and Judy show in King William Street and the shopping centre.
Superbike former world champion Carl Fogarty was one of the main attractions when he gave a road demonstration. And to make the whole festival go with a swing, retailers throughout the town are offering in-store promotions.
