LITTLE Stuart Cook is today playing happily back out on the street where he cheated death in a freak road crash.
Stuart, four, suffered just a small fracture to his skull and a cut to his ear when he was crushed in his toy car outside his home in Cotton Street, Accrington, last Thursday.
His red and yellow plastic car was hit by a Montego which had been smashed by a runaway tow truck rolling down the road.
Stuart's mother Elizabeth Browning said she could never have imagined on Thursday that Stuart would make such a full recovery.
She said: "He is a lot quieter than he usually is, but he seems all right.
"He was really glad to get out of hospital because he wanted to be with Ben, his brother, and play out with his friends."
She added: "I have noticed that he is a bit wary of cars and doesn't like going near the area of the road where it happened."
Stuart spent the weekend in Blackburn Infirmary and was released on Monday.
He had a crowd of visitors to his bedside including his dad David, grandmother Jean Brown, his big sister Samantha Brindle and aunty Emma Brown.
They have bought him a collection of new teddy bears and gifts.
Police were investigating the cause of the crash and the reason the truck started rolling.
The family were consulting their solicitor about the accident.
