RESIDENTS were on the road to having the dirt track leading to their homes revamped because it was designated an ancient highway.
The track, from Wesley Street to Badger Wells Cottages in Sabden, was almost impassable in winter but no-one would accept responsibility for it.
Lancashire County Council named it an ancient highway, which meant it had to be maintained by the highways authority.
Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
