Lancaster 15 Royton 5
Lancaster 16 Bradford 6 LANCASTER gained their third National League win of the season with a comfortable win over struggling local rivals Royton last Sunday.
Although Lancaster took a while to get into their stride, once they eventually scored they dominated the match.
The contest offered plenty of water time to youngsters Stephen Knowles, Lee Power and the slightly more experienced Gavin McClaughlin, who suffered a kick in the mouth during the game and needed stitches.
Having dropped 10 points this season, Lancaster are looking to achieve a respectable third or fourth league placing which, if this performance is repeated, should not be a problem. The home side enjoyed a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to two from Burgess but in the second quarter Lancaster could only add one more goal, thanks again to Burgess.
Although Royton picked up goals here and there on the whole Lancaster dominated throughout and ran out easy winners.
Last Saturday the team played their last ever game at the Kingsway centre, securing a resounding victory against Bradford.
Lancaster went eight goals up (Bowers 2, Power 2) before Bradford got on the scoresheet in the third quarter. The final quarter proved a busy affair with play opening up and goals galore resulting in Lancaster adding 5 to their tally and Bradford adding 3.
Lancaster now look forward to playing at their new home at Salt Ayre on Saturday against Sutton.
