ST HELENS CC strolled to victory against Hightown on Saturday, winning with seven overs to spare.
Hightown crawled to 127 in 58 overs in the face of some fine bowling from Mark Wells (4-36), Steve Jordan (2-19) and Phil Roughley (2-26).
Daniel Massey and Adam Friar removed the final two batsmen despite stubborn resistance.
St Helens then claimed victory as Roughley anchored one end with 62 not out and Darren Tyms hit a pugnacious 39, containing seven fours.
The second team, however, lost at Hightown with only Alec Kenny, David Lowe and Paul Booth getting among the runs, while the third team, packed with under 15 players lost to Birkenhead Park.
