A TODDLER whose recovery from serious head injuries astounded his doctors is going on holiday for the first time.
Elliot Donlon spent four months in hospital fighting for his life after being knocked down by a car outside his home in Dill Hall Lane, Church, last March.
He went back to the stage of a two-week-old baby but has progressed to the equivalent of child aged between 18 months old after attending Broadlands School in Blackburn.
To celebrate his recovery, staff at Accrington's McDonald's restaurant have raised more than £1,400 through their Big Smile charity to send Elliot and his family on a fun-packed break to Blackpool.
His mum Sue said the family were thrilled to be going to Blackpool and added: "We want to fit in as much as we can and want everything to be right for Elliot."
McDonald's manager Christine Thompson said: "We don't usually sponsor individuals but so many people here know Elliot that we decided we would like to help him.
"It's a much-deserved holiday for the Donlon family."
Remaining cash will be spent on play equipment for Elliot and donated to Chaigley Manor children's holiday home.
