THE Brand New Heavies have proved that there is no need to run for cover despite the departure of gutsy soul singer N'dea Davenport.
For their third album Shelter is arguable the best yet and definitely the most versatile - and that's largely due to new singing sensation Siedah Garrett.
Featuring 12 new songs and a delicious cover version of the Carole King classic You've Got A Friend, Shelter adds a punchier side to the Heavies that has been lacking in the past.
Siedah's smouldering tones - which have been in evidence in two top 20 hits Sometimes and You Are The Universe - prove that there is life after N'dea.
