THE economy in Pendle has been given a fillip with news of three big investments in industry.
A leading packaging company and a specialist printers plan to invest £7 million in new equipment, while there is a promise of £6 million boost for Colne with the prospect of jobs when work starts in the autumn on a retail park in North Valley Road.
Family-run Barnoldswick firm of Carrprint intends to triple the size of its current operation with new premises converted from Calf Hall Mill. It will mean more jobs in years to come.
Director Stephen Fullalove said: "The building has been brought back to life for the town and kept business and jobs in the area."
The new factory will have nine colour presses, making the print room one of the biggest in the country.
Smurfit Corrugated, in Edward Street, Nelson, is spending £3 on new rotary die-cutting machinery.
