YOUR article headed 'Barlick Czechs Out' (July 3) told of the visit of a group of Czech teenagers to Barnoldswick, thanks to Esperanto.
Here is one further reminder, as we near the end of the century, that language makes a difference.
Surely there is a case for a planned, simplified language for use among speakers of different mother tongues.
Esperanto was designed for just that role. Is it too much to expect it to be taken seriously in Britain?
Esperanto grows in popularity from day to day, particularly in the Far East.
In the long term there is no doubt that it will be an increasingly significant tool for unambiguous communication.
I have used Esperanto in speech and writing for nearly 30 years and I recommend it to your readers.
A free postal introductory course in Esperanto is available to anyone who sends a stamped addressed envelope to the Esperanto Centre, 140 Holland Park Avenue, London W11 4UF.
The lessons are marked by a network of volunteer tutors.
