GLAZEBURY scored a dramatic last-gasp victory at Eccleston. Best of the bowling in a tidy six-pronged attack came from Andy Durrington (2-22) as the home side were held to 120-7.
But there were early setbacks for Glazebury before Graham Harrop and Peter Calvert, both hitting 29, provided some backbone to the innings before Andy Durrington hammered a brisk 23, the winning run coming with two balls to spare.
The 2nds were routed by 10 wickets by title-chasing Westleigh in the North West Counties League. Missing five regulars, Glazebury were soon in trouble against a pace attack. From 20-5 they fell for 64 with Stuart Caller (32) the only batsman to get to grips with the bowling.
Westleigh openers Bernard Blood (39 not out) and Carl Farrimond (16 not out) hit off the runs in just over 10 overs.
But they finally won their first league match at Hurst Lane, defeating Eccleston by six wickets.
Tom Milmine (5-25) and Mark Tomlinson (3-39) did the damage as Eccleston were held to 134. Skipper Roger Davenport then slammed 60 as Glazebury reached 136-6 with seven overs to spare.
