THE jobless queues have shortened again in the borough of Bury.
Figures for June show that there are 2,761 people (625 of them women) on the dole, compared to 3,002 in May.
The drop is reflected in the unemployment rate for the Bolton and Bury travel-to-work area, which has gone down from 5 per cent to 4.6 per cent.
This compares to the Greater Manchester rate of 5.8 per cent, and the North West rate of 5.1 per cent.
The official statistics also show that during the month, Bury Job Centre had 443 unfilled vacancies while placing 236 people in work.
Radcliffe had 158 unfilled vacancies and 135 placings, while the figures for Prestwich were 110 and 89 respectively.
