STAFF celebrating top marks in a Government inspection report were brought back down to earth with a shock on Wednesday.
Hoyle Nursery this week learned it had been praised by inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). But they were shocked to find vandals had smashed half-a-dozen windows in the Chesham Fold Road nursery.
Headteacher Mrs Clare Barker said: "One of the windows was only put in that afternoon and broken in the evening.
"We're not completely sure, but we think the damage was caused by air rifles."
Mrs Barker said the school had been "pretty lucky" over the past twelve months and had avoided serious vandalism.
"We are lucky because the local community do keep an eye out for us," she said. "Sadly, on this occasion, even that didn't help".
