WORK started this week on the building of a £3.2 million factory at Lowton St Mary's for VBG Limited, a commercial vehicle manufacturer.
The land, a 1.75 hectare spread on the former Alan Taylor Group site, had its first turf cut on Wednesday by the Managing Director, Cliff Cook, and the firm's longest employee, Harry Shaw.
Local businessmen from throughout the region were also invited to the ceremony which sees the start of the first phase of a 4,300 square metre manufacturing and office complex which will incorporate the latest robotic manufacturing equipment for making commercial vehicles.
The firm currently employs 45 employees and is based in Runcorn, though it expects to move its production to Lowton St Mary's at the beginning of next year.
