RAWTENSTALL professional Ian Hewett's season is over because of a serious shoulder injury.
The Australian is returning home after being advised not to play again for at least a month and the club have engaged former Rawtenstall amateur Andrew Payne for Sunday's game against Accrington.
It's the fourth year in a row that Rawtenstall's professional has had to leave early, for different reasons, but the club had no option as the shoulder injury has been bothering Hewett for a couple of games and they had to accept medical advice. Andrew Payne, who is the son of Rawtenstall chairman Brian, spent two seasons with Somerset and has played as professional for several clubs. He is currently with Flowery Field in the Saddleworth League.
