THIEVES raided a changing room at Accrington Cricket Club escaping with more than £150 cash, credit cards and jewellery from players' pockets.
The theft happened yesterday afternoon when all the Accrington players were fielding against Rawtenstall at the club in Thorneyholme Road. The alarm was raised when the Accrington team went back to their locked changing room at the interval and one man checked his pocket.
The other players checked their belongings and found cash, credit cards and jewellery, including a watch and wedding ring had been stolen. The police were called and are investigating.
Cricket club chairman Mr Russ Cuddihy said: "We've had the odd incident at the club but I've been playing more than 20 years and can't remember anything of this scale."
