A COUNCILLOR was rewarded for his electioneering efforts in helping to bring Labour to power when he met Tony and Cherie Blair at a garden party at 10 Downing Street.
Tim Ormrod, who serves on both Pendle and Lancashire County councils representing Colne, was invited, along with other party workers, to take drinks with the Prime Minister in recognition of his work during the general election.
"Everyone had a great time," said Coun Ormrod. "Tony and Cherie were superb in making sure that the guests were relaxed and enjoying themselves.
"The interior of the building is impressive and the huge lawn at the rear was ideal for the garden party.
"I enjoyed the event immensely and savoured every minute. This will go down in my diary as a one-off for me."
Coun Ormrod was Labour Party organiser in Blackpool during the election where two key seats were gained from the Conservatives.
He was also organiser during the Wirral South by-election last winter which Labour also gained from the Tories.
