NERVES of steel will be required when a parachuting pair take to the skies for the first time.
Devron Wood of Scott Avenue, Baxenden, said he does not have a good head for heights but is determined to overcome his fears in time for the charity jump on September 6.
He will parachute from Grange-over-Sands with his brother's fiancee Vicky Fletcher of Manchester Road, Baxenden.
They are raising money for the ambulance service's Heart of Lancashire Appeal - a campaign aimed at providing immediate treatment for heart attack victims.
Devron decided to support the appeal after he was treated by paramedics when he was knocked unconscious in a motorbike accident last year. The pair are currently looking for companies or individuals to sponsor the jump.
They will spend a day in training and complete the jump with a group of Devron's brother's work colleagues who are raising money for Bury Hospice.
The appeal intends to raise cash to train 300,000 people in CPR - cardio pulmonary resuscitation - and provide 300 defibrillators to be placed in public facilities in the community.
It will also pay for ten fast response units to cover Lancashire's urban and rural communities.
Any company or individual who can sponsor them can contact Devron on 01254 390509 or Leading Ambulance Technician Robert Gibson, at Accrington Ambulance Station, Broad Oak Road, Accrington, BB5 2BD.
