AS an "exile" from my hometown for the past 40-odd years, I felt I must compliment you on your Looking Back series, in particular the article regarding trams in Blackburn and the surrounding towns (LET, July 21).
My father was the conductor on the last Blackburn tram which ended its journey at the Intack depot in 1949.
Both he and the driver at the end of the journey were handed plaques from the council, which had the town coat of arms and inscription etc on them.
I did not witness the ceremony as I was away from Blackburn doing National Service.
