A FIRM has paid tribute to a former employee by paying for a bench to be placed on one of his favourite walkways.

Clitheroe man Jackie Cottam worked for B Dugdale and Son for 31 years, delivering animal feeds throughout the Ribble Valley and surrounding area before dying suddenly at the age of 51 in February.

The bench has been placed on the footpath which overlooks Clitheroe between Bellman and Salthill quarries, where Jackie used to walk his dog each day.

Operations director Stephen Dugdale said: "Jackie will be fondly remembered as the cheerful driver of farm delivery vehicles and I hope that this bench will go some way to showing our appreciation of all the work he has done for the company."

Jackie's wife Isobel said: "Everyone who has seen the seat thinks it's an appropriate memorial to Jackie and I am very grateful to Dugdales."
