READING of so many tragedies caused by fire, I wonder if something should be done about educating people.
Perhaps something similar to the warnings on cigarette packets could be issued by makers of things powered by electricity or gas.
Instructions could be printed on match boxes, cigarette lighters and containers of inflammable liquids and cleaning materials, telling people the safest way to handle these things, and what to do if things go wrong.
The importance must be stressed of keeping dangerous things well away from children. There will always be those who won't, or can't, read the small print, but it must be worth a try.
