BRIDEGROOM Anthony Cook's eye will gleam brighter than his wedding ring when he gets hitched this week after a stag "do" ended in a punch-up.

Anthony was thrown out of a nightclub following a drunken scuffle as he and friends celebrated on a boozy night out.

The 24-year-old ended up in hospital for two days after he says he became the victim of an unprovoked attack by a mystery man in the club's toilets.

Now he will walk down the aisle sporting a shiner and a cut and bruised wedding ring finger when he ties the knot with Peta Hardman, 20, at Woodlands United Reformed Church, Blackburn, on Friday.

The self employed labourer said: "I don't normally drink and only ever go out at Christmas and New Year so I suppose 12 whiskies and six pints was over the top for me.

"I don't remember much about the incident at all other than being thrown around and stamped on.

"We're holding two wedding receptions but I'll be sticking to orange juice at both. "It's not going to spoil our big day. There's no way we'd cancel over a black eye, I love her to bits."

Bride-to-be, Peta, of Worcester Road, Intack, Blackburn, added: "We've planned the wedding for two years so we're not going to cancel now. He was drunk but everybody does that on their stag do. God only knows what he'll look like on the wedding pictures.

"I was on my hen night the same day and even that didn't go smoothly - my friend and a bridesmaid ended up having a huge row!"

Best man Barry Eyckins, of Mill Hill, said: "We were all pretty drunk and I suppose I was expected to look after him but I can't even look after myself!"

Police were called to Generations nightclub in Blackburn town centre early Saturday morning but are taking no further action.

Anthony added: "I've had stitches from my wrist all the way up to my elbow from falling on glass and I have a cut on my wedding ring finger."
