AN HEROIC teenager saved his friends' lives after a maniac went on the rampage in Israel.

Arron Abramson (15, pictured) was walking along a street in Jaffa with 40 members of his youth group when he saw a car speeding towards them.

The 15-year-old, who lives in Philips Park Road, Whitefield, screamed at his friends to run, giving them time to scatter.

After crashing the car, the Arab driver, who is thought to be a Hamas sympathiser, waved a Samurai sword, stabbing two people who are currently recovering in hospital.

Arron's father Raymond, of Glebelands Road, Prestwich, said: "The car would have crashed straight into the children if it wasn't for my son.

"If he hadn't told them to run, someone would have been killed. The leaders have said he saved a lot of lives."

Mr Abramson first knew of the attack when he saw it on the television, although at that stage he did not know his son was involved.

He said: "He phoned me to tell me he had not been hurt. He is very shocked but he's all right.

"I'm just so relieved he got out of the way and I'm very proud of what he did."

Arron, who is a Bury Grammar School pupil, was in Israel for three-and-a-half weeks with the Jewish youth group, the Federation of Zionist Youth (FZY).

The Israeli Government has paid for the group, accompanied by Israeli security, to continue their holiday at a hotel in the holiday resort of Eilat.
