A CHARITY preparing to take around 40 Romanian youngsters on a camping holiday has appealed for help.

Organisers of the visit to Eastern Europe early next month, need cooking equipment to help feed the party while they are on a mountain adventure.

North West Gas has already donated a cooker to the Colne-based group Jesus and Relief Supplies (JARS) but the organisation is still on the look-out for items such as large pans, baking trays and large wooden spoons.

Ian Paxton, in charge of catering on the trip, said: "For some of these young people it will be the first time they have had a holiday away from home and we're hoping to give them a good time.

"They have wood burning stoves out there which aren't suitable, especially if you're not used to them, but North West Gas has kindly said it will donate a cooker which works off bottled gas.

"We need cooking equipment suitable for outdoor use and serving a lot of people." Anyone who can help is asked to contact JARS on 01282 861474.

The group will hold a fun night at Barrowford Civic Hall on August 15 to raise money for the camping holiday.

Around ten volunteers from JARS will travel to Romania at the end of August to take part in the trip. The group will consist of young people between 16 and 24.

JARS has worked closely with Romanian churches on a number of charitable efforts and regularly sends supplies to the country.
