A TEENAGE girl was stabbed repeatedly after a row with a gang of girls outside a chip shop.

Lisa Chadderton, 19, and her 21-year-old boyfriend Shane Cook, both of Fielding Crescent, Blackburn, were attacked outside the shop in Albert Street, Lower Darwen.

The couple were eating their chips in a doorway when a group of girls, aged around 14, shouted abuse at them.

Lisa, a former pupil of St Wilfrid's High School and Blackburn College, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary suffering from chest injuries after being stabbed with a small knife. Shane was also punched by the girl's boyfriend.

Shane said: "Lisa has ten wounds to her chest, some are just scratches but there are four or five punctures."

Shane said Lisa was stabbed by another older girl who came out of a nearby house. He was then attacked by her boyfriend.

"It was for no reason - we had never seen them before," he said. "We went out for something to eat and the next thing I know is that my girlfriend is lying on the floor with blood coming out of her chest."

The attack was a double blow for Shane, a former Witton Park High School pupil, who has just lost his temporary job as a wood machinist.

He added: "I am really angry about the stabbing and couldn't believe that to top it all I was told I no longer had a job.

Inspector Tony Harling of Blackburn police said: "Our inquiries are continuing and we would like to hear from anybody with information about the incident."
