WHAT is the ordinary supporter to make of the Le Saux affair? Despite the usual - for Blackburn Rovers - denials, he is now on the transfer list. Nevertheless this volte-face is rendered meaningless by the totally unrealistic price put on his head. Because of the tight-lipped system the club operates, we will never know the reasons why the player became disenchanted with it, but past experience indicates that neither party will have been blameless. The sensible reaction should have been a swift parting of the ways. Rovers should receive a reasonable return on their £650,000 outlay, and the player should not have his future ruined by a price, that many people might think smacks of vindictiveness. As I have already heard some supporters expressing satisfaction with Shearer's latest injury (another player who had the audacity to turn his back on Blackburn Rovers), I fear that a sensible outcome will not be quickly realised.
