LAST weekend the Arnside Motorsport team of Wayne and Neill Sisson maintained their slim lead in the under 25 section of the Mobil 1 British Championship Series.
The Ulster International was the fourth round in the series and the first of the tarmac events. The Miller Oils backed Vauxhall Astra GSi had a trouble free event and finished 27th overall and 14th in Formula Two.
With their nearest rivals Stuart and Steve Egglestone from Penrith ten seconds behind, Wayne and Neill have to stay ahead on the final event, The Manx International, to take both class and British junior title at their first event. This weekend will see a big change in the PCS, Spax and Diamond Products supported Forest Challenge as the teams head to the Gisburn Forest Complex and the Silva Stages.
After their season contesting the National BTRDA Series, Carnforth's Ian Joel will be trying to get the name of his co-driver Graeme Wood on the trophy as Joel has won the event three times with his previous co-driver Gordon Capstick.
The always spectacular Darren Atkinson in the Rogersons/Hartley Tool Hire Escort Mk 2 will be out on Saturday, hoping to build on their win on the Pirelli Trophy earlier in the year. Although neither Joel or Atkinson are registered for the Spax, PCS Diamond Products Forest Challenge, they will both revel in the atmosphere of one of the area's premier forest events.
