ST HELENS CC crashed to a surprise defeat at the hands of Marchweil on Saturday.
They seemed to have done the hard work when they dismissed the Welshmen for 134 in 47 overs thanks to fine bowling from Mark Wells (4-35), Adam Friar (4-39) and Phil Roughley (1-38).
On the resumption the men from Windleshaw Road looked to be on course at 66-1 with Phil Roughley (44) and Ian Mackus (18) at the crease.
But a drying pitch proved St Helens' undoing as they crashed to 97 all out.
The under 15s side resumed their winning ways at the expense of Westleigh.
Gareth Fishwick anchored the innings with 20 out of a total of 88.
Westleigh were restricted to 73-9 in the face of fine bowling by P. Dennett (4-11), S. Naidoo (2-25), G. Fishwick (2-11) and G. Pawson (1-10).
