A SPECIAL service of remembrance is to be held later this month by Bury's Air Training Corps in memory of three cadets killed in a helicopter accident in Wales four years ago.
The 1036 squadron padre, Canon John Reginald Smith, will dedicate a seat in the Bury Parish Church Memorial Gardens in memory of Amanda Whitehead, Mark Oakden, both from Bury, and Christopher Bailey.
The families of the three teenagers will be joined by serving Air Cadets from the town and senior officers within the 1036 Bury squadron during the service, which will take place on the fourth anniversary of the tragedy on August 12 at 7pm.
The bench, bought by the squadron's Memorial Fund, has been inscribed with a plaque and will be sited between the RAF memorial and the Navy memorial.
Amanda (17) of Jesmond Drive, Mark, aged 16 of Gisburn Drive, and Christopher (15) from Horwich died when a Wessex helicopter plunged into the Llyn Padarn in Llanberis.
The ATC youngsters were attending an air experience summer camp at RAF Valley in Anglesey when the crash happened.
