A BOY of five was savaged by his uncle's pet lurcher as they played in a garden.
Daniel Lord, of Moorland Road, Burnley, was rushed to hospital and needed stitches in his face and scalp after the attack.
Initially, he was cared for in the children's ward at Burnley General Hospital but he was later transferred to Blackburn Royal Infirmary. Staff there say he is 'comfortable'.
The incident happened shortly after dog owner Lee Bradbury, of Orpen Avenue, Burnley, called to see Daniel's family with Laddie, a three-and-a-half year old cross bedlington.
It is believed little Daniel had some food in his hand and that the dog wanted to share it.
Mr Bradbury took his pet to be destroyed within hours of the accident.
