RAY Butler (Letters, August 5) and other correspondents are wrong in stating that Blackburn with Darwen Council has given a £25,000 grant for minority languages.
The grant was provided by Lancashire County Council in 1994/95 for a period of three years.
He is also wrong in stating that the council has paid for 'artistic' metal trees. These were paid for by City Challenge, European money and arts bodies, not the council.
He is again wrong in stating the council paid for 'works of art' around the town centre. Out of a total cost of £33,000 for the works of art, including the boulevard statue, the council contributed just £3,000.
Mr Butler should get his facts right before criticising the Labour council and those so-called 'fools' voting for it. It looks to me as if Mr Butler is the real fool.
