AN EXTENSION to a Ribble Valley quarry looks set to get the go-ahead, despite fears about the number of lorries visiting and leaving the site.
County councillors will consider plans to allow quarrying for a further ten years and to extend at Waddington Fell Quarry during a development control sub-committee meeting tomorrow.
An average of 60 lorries currently leave the site each day and the quarry has stressed the new application would not mean an increase.
However, several villagers claim the traffic could lead to accidents and want a road built to by pass Waddington.
Parish councillors claim vibrations from lorries have caused between £7,000 and £8,000 worth of damage to the brook wall in the village.
It is the second time people have been consulted. A mistake in the original application said there would only be 45 lorries leaving the quarry and 45 coming in each day.
The county council carried out another consultation after the mistake was highlighted, because it felt traffic was the main concern of local residents.
A condition of an average of 60 lorries leaving the site each day in a year and a maximum of 85 on any one day is among the restrictions expected to be set on the application.
