YOUNGSTERS in East Lancashire worry more about their careers than sex, according to a survey.
Three in every five 15 to 18-year-olds are more concerned about getting good grades than hopping into bed with a partner.
The survey, carried out by educational body Edexcel Foundation and released in the same week A-level results are announced, shows relationships come at the bottom of the worry list.
After achieving good grades, the biggest worries for teenagers in the North West is having enough cash to get by and careers.
Health, the environment and crime are also causes for concern.
Nearly 40 per cent of young people interviewed said they were more optimistic about getting a job since Tony Blair took power.
Ann Channon, Edexcel's regional manager, said: "Young people are well aware they need the right qualifications and skills to succeed.
"Thousands of students will be considering their options in the coming weeks. Whether their grades are disappointing, average or brilliant, there is more choice than they think."
A freephone helpline, 0500 524534, has been set up by Edexcel, to give advice to youngsters reveiving exam results.
