A ROMANIAN teenager who befriended members of a Pendle-based aid group is visiting East Lancashire.
Anna-Marie Moldoveanu, 14, is staying with Chris Creelman and his family in Fence, near Nelson.
Chris is team leader of Pendle For Romania which regularly visits the Eastern European country with supplies.
She will be among the guests at the official opening of Pendle Forest Scout and Guide Group's new headquarters in Fence on Saturday through Chris's connection as group scout leader.
Anna-Marie is halfway through a three-week visit to Pendle which was her reward for doing well in recent exams.
"Her father had asked her what she wanted if she did well," explained Chris. "She said she would like to come back to England for another visit.
"She was with the Romanian party who came over for the international meeting at Bowley Scout Camp last year.
"We originally met her and her family through the aid group and we've kept in contact since."
Anna-Marie was spending this week in Edinburgh. She has also enjoyed shopping trips and visits to tourist attractions.
A team of 30 people from Pendle For Romania have just returned from delivering supplies to the country.
They visited a range of places including an orphanage, children's homes and an elderly people's centre.
The team is planning to make another trip in October and would like donations of items such as bedding, toiletries, toys and other much-needed goods.
