URGENT action was demanded as Blackburn's jobless figures edged above the 10 per cent mark.
Council leader Peter Greenwood described the shock figures as a disaster for the town's economy, which relies on manufacturing and engineering.
He said: "This is further evidence that the recession is still having a steady impact on the North West and Blackburn in particular."
