DAVID Lee Nield (22) of Walmersley Road, Bury, is understood to be one of the first people in the area to be charged under new "stalking" laws.
Nield was yesterday charged with offences under the 1997 Protection From Harassment Act at Bury Magistrates' Court.
The charges concern a girl who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Nield is also charged with assaulting the minor and with a separate incident of unlawful and malicious wounding against another man.
The proceedings were adjourned and Nield was remanded in custody pending a committal hearing at Bury Magistrates' Court on September 5.
