NEARLY half the workforce were being made redundant at the East Lancashire headquarters of snooker company Riley.

A major "cut to survive" plan involving 50 shopfloor and staff redundancies was announced by new owners Midsummer Leisure. The Padiham operation employed 110.

The move followed major changes at board level which saw most of Riley's senior management leave.
